Uranium developer Neo Energy Metals has appointed De Wet Schutte CFO and executive director, effectively immediately.

He brings to the position more than 30 years’ experience in finance, governance and mergers and acquisitions internationally.

Schutte, who is a chartered accountant, has held senior executive positions throughout Africa, including as CFO of various gold, coal, iron-ore, uranium and platinum mining companies including Meridian Africa.

“He has played a key role in numerous restructuring and corporate initiatives, having successfully delivered the turnaround of underperforming assets,” says Neo Energy CEO Theo Botoulas.

As part of his role at Neo Energy, Schutte will work with Botoulas to build a diverse and experienced team to advance the Beisa uranium project, in South Africa’s Free State province, to production.
